Vitrified clay sewer elements

Since 31 March 2018, COPRO as certification body has been responsible for the BENOR certification of pipes, fittings and connections in vitrified clay. COPRO took over this task from INISMa (Belgian Ceramic Research Centre), which until then managed the certification and carried out the inspections on the production units.

COPRO then convened a Sectoral Committee with representatives from the entire sector (public and private users, producers and experts). This committee completely reworked the technical references:

TRA 95: Application regulations for the product certification of vitrified clay pipe systems for drains and sewers.
PTV 895-1: Technical prescriptions for pipes, fittings and joints.
PTV 895-4: Technical prescriptions for adaptors, connectors and flexible couplings.
PTV 895-6: Technical prescriptions for components of manholes and inspection chambers.
PTV 895-7: Technical prescriptions for pipes and joints for pipe jacking.

The first certificates were issued by COPRO to STEINZEUG-KERAMO on 20 April 2018.
This producer currently has 3 branches from which pipes, fittings and/or connections in vitrified clay can be delivered under the BENOR certificate.

In the course of 2018, the members of the Sectoral Committee met to further elaborate and update the certification requirements and technical prescriptions. This resulted in a new version (2.0) of these documents at the end of 2018, which you can consult at the following link. The documents are only available in English. Compared to version 1.0 of the technical prescriptions, the PTV number has also been modified: 8295 is now 895.

All technical documents are up-to-date and ready for the future.

The technical datasheets for pipes, fittings and connections in vitrified clay that can be delivered with a BENOR certificate can be found at this link.
